Rammellzee's art & music including what's basically his Tribeca NYC loft he called the Battle Station, currently seen as part of the ART IN THE STREETS retrospective at MOCA thru August.
Similar to what Rammellzee was wearing in the Praxis Animal Behavior video.
Artwork seen on Right side wall looking similar to the AXIOM ALTERED BEATS cd cover art .
Rammellzee's love of Japanese action figures and his elaborite costumes and masks remind me of someone else I was "turned on to" via Bill Laswell.
Fitting that I should discover Bucket's HERO OF THE ABYSS tribute to Rammellzee while looking thru clips for this post.
Always been a huge fan of his work, from the GHETTOVETTS disc, PRAXIS Animal Behavior video appearance & assorted Bill Laswell projects he lent his distinctive rap to, including Material's Seven Souls, Sly & Robbie's Rhythm Killers and Axioms Altered Beats to name a few.
R.I.P. Rammellzee, you are sorely missed.
Amazing post.
ReplyDeleteThere will never be another Rammellzee.
His world vision was so wildly different and so full of breathing colour!
